Jumbo seafood Clarke quay
20 Upper Circular Road, #B1-48 The Riverwalk, Singapore 058416
A visit it Singapore is not complete unless you dine at one of the Jumbo Seafood Restaurants. There are five locations to choose from and on this occasion we went to the Riverwalk Restaurant which is a quick stroll over the bridge from Clarke Quay.
Always busy Jumbo has multiple sittings and I have always found them accommodating when you have not booked which was the case on this occasion. The hostess advised that we could have the table for 1.5hours as it was booked after that.
My travelling companions quickly ordered a jug of Tiger beer and I perused their cocktail menu. I decided on the long ice tea which hit the spot.
You can not visit Singapore without having their famous chilli crab. Jumbo serve their chilli crab with deep fried brioche rolls. The mandatory bibs are provided with any order of the crab. The sauce is amazing and although very messy to eat this is by far the best dish of the night.
We also ordered large prawns with baked cheese, shrimp fried rice, chilli spinach and the crispy squid. All dishes did not disappoint even though the squid was very crunchy and did not taste anything like you come to expect squid to taste.
The service was outstanding with the staff constantly asking if we wanted more drinks.
If you only go to one restaurant in Singapore make sure it is a Jumbo Seafood Restaurant.
