orchard hotel
442 Orchard Road, Singapore
Our hotel of choice for this stay in Singapore was The Orchard Hotel at 442 Orchard Road. Fabulously located with all of the Orchard Road Shops at your doorstep.
The rooms are spacious but a little dated. The bathroom was clean but also need a little maintenance with the shower recess not drain all the water causing us to have a foot spa every time we had a shower.
The welcoming fruit bowl was a lovely touch along with all the complimentary bathroom amenities such as toothbrushes, body wash, moisturiser etc.

The buffet breakfast had all the usual suspects of eggs, bacon, pancakes, along with an omelette station. There was also plenty of Asian options. The only complaint we had was the coffee...but then there are so many great coffee shops along Orchard Road once you ventured out of the hotel.
We also enjoyed a buffet dinner in the Hotel restaurant, Covering all basis of the traditional Christmas fare, there was also freshly made sushi, salads, prawns, oysters, crab and the oh so delicious dessert cabinet. We eve gave the durian mousse a go!

The Conrad Hilton Singapore
Two Temasek Boulevard, Singapore, 038982, Singapore
This was our third stay at the Conrad Hilton and it once again did not disappoint. We had read that the rooms were getting a bit tired however, we found our rooms exactly as it had been the last time in perfect condition.
From the moment you enter the air conditioned foyer which is a welcomed relief from the Singapore humidity, you are greeted by a friendly doorman directing you to the Reception area.
The staff at Reception are friendly and efficient. As we are Gold Hilton Honours member we were given an automatic upgrade to a higher floor with $16 free laundry per day along with breakfast in the Club Room and free wifi.
One of the 4 Travel Buddies had an issue with their room due to the renovations taking place on level 6 there was a very heavy mould smell. The Reception rectified this immediately and moved them to another room.
The rooms are spacious with enough room for a desk and arm chair. Next to the arm chair on the coffee table sits the Conrad Bear with a complimentary fruit basket and chocolates. A nice touch that is replicated in all rooms.
If we had to nit pick for complaints it would have to be how high off the ground the bed is. For those of us that are a little on the shorter side it can take quite an effort to get into bed. But once in the bed it is big and oh so comfortable. When lying in bed you look at of the large windows to Singapore skyline. As with all 4+ star hotels there is a pillow menu for those of you that like your pillow a certain way.
The bathroom at the Conrad has to be one of our favourite hotel bathrooms. Head to toe in marble, the separate bath and shower is one feature that many hotels lack. The tray of toiletries ensures that if you have forgotten anything at home they have it covered. Unlike other hotels, these toiletries are replaced each day when your rooms is cleaned.
The turn down service in the evening is one of those touches that stands the Conrad apart from other hotels. The first time we experienced this it did surprise us a little as we thought someone was in the room. The curtains are drawn open, with a cloth mat put at the foot of your bed with slippers sitting on top of the mat. The stereo is on playing dulcet jazz music and on your bed is left a bookmark.
For those of you not venturing out to eat the in room dining menu is extensive. From the usual burgers and club sandwiches but also the choices from the Golden Peony Chinese Restaurant in the hotel.
