Sitting smack bang in the prime location on The Las Vegas Strip, The Monte Carlo Resort and Casino was the perfect hotel for our three nigh stay in Las Vegas.
After 26 hours of travelling, including a three hour delay because of a freak storm rolling through Las Vegas we made it to the bright lights (insert Elvis singing) of the Vegas Strip and the massive hotel that would be our base for approximately 6 hours of sleep over three nights.
What you notice first about the foyer and check-in area is the beige marble…. floor to ceiling! Check-in was quick and hassle free, just what we needed after all that flying. A quick hot shower was what we craved. The bathrooms are looking tired and in need of an upgrade and the plumbing from neighbouring rooms could be heard; but with cocktails and limited time to sleep this paled into insignificance. The shower is over the bath which has a shower curtain, toilet and hand basin they all fit into this one compact bathroom with complimentary shampoo, body wash and soap.
With 3002 rooms The Monte Carlo Resort and Casino has been operating since 1996. The carpets in the walking areas and along the corridor’s to the rooms are worn and the décor is outdated. Currently undergoing an expansion and a planned upgrade we would definitely be interested to see what the Resort is like when all the construction is completed.
The room was basic and what we would class as a standard hotel room; clean and fresh but a little tired. However, it was suitable for our stay as we hardly spent any time in the room. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud after limited sleep on the aeroplane and was just what we needed after hitting the casino, dancefloors and bars hard!
When we headed down the lifts into the foyer what hits you is the smell of smoke. Smoking is permitted on the casino floor which for us Australians we were not use to. In order to exit the hotel onto the Las Vegas Strip you have to walk through the casino. As with all casino’s in Vegas if you are gambling then the drinks are free. We did not spend as much time as we would have like to at the casino as there was so much to see outside.
As you head toward the exit of The Monte Carlo Resort and Casino you will find the Minus 5 Bar located on your right. We managed to squeeze in a 2 drink experience in the wee hours of the morning. As the name indicates it’s an ice bar and would be refreshing when coming in from the dessert heat. We suited up in the thick jackets provided and spent 30 minutes enjoying frozen cocktails and chilling out.
With our next trip to Las Vegas already pencilled in for 2017 we will be looking for a hotel with more modern and updated rooms as we are planning to spend at least a week to fully experience the Vegas lifestyle. If you are looking for a clean room with the convenience of being on the Las Vegas Strip then we would definitely recommend The Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. Maybe the renovations will be completed by the time we arrive and we may just stay there again!
